Emergency Shelter Volunteer Training
Sunday, Nov. 18 (6:30-8:00pm)

As part of our REACH vision campaign, we are reaching out to help meet some of the greatest needs in our local community by partnering with Connections Ministry to host an emergency shelter at Crossview for up to 25 individuals (dates: Nov. 19-25, Dec. 24-30, Jan. 28-Feb. 3, Mar. 4-10). This is a great opportunity to serve others! 15-20 volunteers are needed each night that we host the shelter. If you would like to volunteer, you must attend the training session on Nov. 18.

** On Nov. 18, training will be part of the "Faith & Justice Seminar" with special guest speakers from Partners for Affordable Housing & Connections Ministry.

Contact Tara Rustad for more details.

Volunteers are needed for:

  • Set up Team: 5-6 volunteers (Mondays 9:30-11:00am). Set-up rooms with cots and blankets.

  • Meal Team: 3-10 volunteers (6:00-8:30pm). Provide, serve, and clean up a meal for 25 shelter guests and 5-10 volunteers for a total of 30-35 people. This is a great opportunity to serve with your small group.

  • Hospitality Team: 3-8 volunteers (6:30-9:00pm). Welcome guests, help them to get settled in, eat & socialize with guests.

  • Morning Team: 2-3 volunteers (6:00am-8:00am). Make coffee, wake-up guests, assist in morning routines and say good-bye to the guests.

  • Welcome Bags: 2 volunteers (Mondays 9:00-10:00am). Assist in making bags which can be placed on pillows to help shelter guests feel welcome.

  • Laundry: 1-2 volunteers. Take used bedding to the laundromat as needed, or at the end of the week, then return it for storage until the next time Crossview hosts.
